Q. During this time period (the 1974 war), was there
anything special that stands out in your mind about the media
(radio, television,
newspapers, etc.) or the way media was used in your family or by
your friends?
During this time period we used media very often. Because we
wanted to be informed about our surroundings. For that reason
media was very important for us but we didn`t use it for
entertainment. We were usually informed by radio and newspapers
because these were the only possible media which we can use. We
used media only to get information, not for entertainment.
Q. Did you have any thoughts or ideas or feelings or
emotions at that time?
I was very happy to own that kind of media. Because despite
all kinds of impossibilities, they tried to help us. They
continued to publish their newspapers in every condition. This
made me very happy.
Q. Did these thoughts or ideas or feelings or emotions
help you in any way?
These thoughts or ideas made me to see the truth. In Greek
media they always made propaganda against the Turkish Cypriot
media. But the hard working behaviour of the Turkish Cypriot
media gave the best answer to them. These thoughts helped us to
become a conscious people.
Q. Were these thoughts or ideas or feelings or emotions a
problem for you in any way?
These thoughts or ideas didn`t cause a problem for me but
they raised a question in my mind. This question was "Why do
they have more chances than us?" To think about the answer of
this question made me sad.
